Dr. Asma’u Abba of Psychiatry Department has called on students of Nurul Huda Community Secondary School Kano to avoid taking drugs without doctor’s prescription in order to stay away from the menace of drug abuse.
The call was made during an excursion visit to the Psychiatry Department of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital by the students.
Dr. Asma’u said that substance abuse affects the educational life, social, as well as health of the addicts. She then advised the students to disseminate the knowledge they acquired during the visit to their family and friends.
On his part, the school teacher, Mallam Auwal Musa Aliyu said the aim of their visit was to educate the students on the menace of drug abuse from the Medical Professionals in the Hospital.
He then expressed gratitude to the Management and Psychiatry Department for the time given to the students and the knowledge impacted to them.Similarly, the Senior Secondary Students (SS) 1 & 2 of Government Girls Secondary School Darmanawa, Kano visited two Medical Laboratories of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.
At the Hospital Haematology Laboratory, Lab. Scientist Mashud Abiola informed the students about the functions of the Haematology Laboratory. He explained that the Lab. deals with analysis of blood screening for safe keeping, he then advised the student to know their blood groups.
Mr Ezeh Paschal and Ummi Garba Hassan both from Chemical Pathology Laboratory received the students and conducted them round.
