Officials from Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health from United States of America (USA) is to embark on Research Project in collaboration with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and Bayero University Kano.The Institute pledged to help children suffering from epilepsy by educating their families on the illness and provide training for Community Health Workers who will be supervised by an epilepsy expert in the Hospital. This was disclosed by Professor Edwin Trevathan, Director in the Vanderbilt Institute and Pediatric Neurologist.
Professor Edwin said, their aim is to reduce the gap with about 60 to 90% of children suffering from epilepsy cases and to initiate a programme with the help of Bayero University Kano that will last for at least five (5) years.

In his remarked, the Chief Medical Director, Professor Aminu Zakari Mohammed has assured them of Managements readiness to free access of the hospital in order to have smooth services to those suffering from epilepsy disease.
