The Chief Medical Director of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe has said that Telemedicine is going to continue even after the period of COVID 19 in order to decongest the Speciality Clinics as well as minimize the inflows of Patients into the hospital.
The CMD disclosed while receiving a donation of some computers and other devices to the hospital to complement the current telemedicine introduced in some clinical departments by a Non-Governmental Organization, Kano Against COVID Initiative today Thursday at the Digital Laboratory of the hospital.
He explained that Patients especially in Medicine and sometimes Surgery don't need to come physically for their follow up care as the telemedicine is available for them to speak directly with their doctors for continue management.
He said that the donation has come at the right time when the hospital is looking for ways of improving its Services at this pandemic period. He assured that the items will be put to use immediately as well as thanked the Organization for assisting the hospital.
Presenting the donation on behalf of Kano Against COVID Initiative, Professor Mahmoud Sani, a Consultant Cardiologist explained how the facilities will be used for telemedicine consultation of Patients.
Items donated included 3 all in one desktop,3 hardware devices,3 keyboards and one Router to continue internet services.
