The Chairman of Association of Resident Doctors, AKTH Brach, Dr Abubakar Usman Nagoma has described the experiences encountered by Resident Doctors during the pandemic as terrible leading to confusions and with doctors contracting the coronavirus, which in turn infected their spouses.

Dr Nagoma explained that the doctors contracted the virus as a result of exposure to positive patients unknowingly to them.He added that their doctors at that time didn’t have the Basic Personal Protective
Equipment PPE to protect themselves from the virus.

Dr Abubakar said with the donations of PPEs by individuals and organizations the hospital, as well as the Association, was able to avert the reoccurrence of such incidents among resident doctors and other hospital staff.

He said the screening of patients first at designated points before having access to doctors has also played a vital role, as well as maintaining of handwashing points in front of every building in the hospital among others.

He then recommended to the Management on the need for regular screening of health workers that are
attending to patients to curtail the spread of the virus.

Similarly, the Chairman National Association of Nurses and Midwifery of Nigeria (NANMN) AKTH chapter,
Comrade Bashir Ali Ado has described the experience of Nurses as devastating, as they recorded Twenty Five (25) confirmed cases of its members during the pandemic.

Comrade Bashir stated that the menace subsided due to intervention with donations of some kinds of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by Institutions and Philanthropic Foundation.
