A Senior Registrar, Dr Salihu Joji of Infectious Disease Control Unit with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital received the students of Shehu Abdullahi Science Academy, Darmanawa Quarters, Kano to the Internal
Medicine Department of the Hospital on excursion visit.
Dr Salihu said HIV, which is also known as Human Immunodeficiency Virus can be transmitted through contact with infected persons blood or semen.
He outlined its risk factors, symptoms and how to take precautionary measures to avoid been contacted.

Similarly, he briefed the students on Lassa fever, which he said is a virus which can be contacted through the urine and faeces of rats, its risk factors, symptoms and how to protect themselves.
He finally demonstrated to the student how to wash their hands with soap and water, frequent use of hand sanitizer and urged them to be washing their hands regularly to avoid the spread of diseases.
