The Management of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano says that it is mandatory for all staff to submit leave resumption form after annual, maternity and other leaves.

This was contained in a statement issued to all Head of Department/Unit Heads of the hospital dated 3rd August, 2020 signed by the Assistant Director, Human Resources, Mrs. Bara’atu Kabir on behalf of the Chief Medical Director.

The Assistant Director said that, the Hospital Management has observed with dismay how a lot of staff do not fill and submit resumption of leave form at the end of their annual or other leaves which is contrary to the Provision of Public Service Rules No.100105.

Mrs. Kabir added that, all Head of Department/Unit Heads should ensure that staff must fill and submit the resumption duty form and be endorsed for subsequent submission to Open Registry, as failure to comply with this rule might lead to appropriate disciplinary action and stoppage of staff salary as the case may be.

The Management of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano has called on all staff to endeavor to fill their respective Annual Performance Evaluation Report
(APER) forms on yearly basis whether they are due for promotion or not.

The Director of Administration of the hospital, Mrs. Zainab Ahmad Gwadabe disclosed this in a statement issued to all Head of Department/Unit Heads on 3rd August, 2020 signed on behalf of the Chief Medical Director.

She said that, staff should note that filling of APER forms is mandatory to be done at the end of each year not only for the period of promotion.

Mrs. Zainab further drew the attention of staff that APER form is the tool through which performance of staff, as well as his/her attitude to work and overall
character are assessed and commented upon and the comments are used to guide the employer towards motivation and reward for hard work, character
modification, capacity building and punishment for erring staff.

The Director reiterated that, staff should always collect and fill their individual APER form and submit to their respective Heads for appropriate assessment as directed.

The Management of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano (AKTH) has introduced a customized uniform for Laboratory and Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) of the hospital.

Dr. Kabir Abdulsalam, Consultant and Head of Department, Chemical Pathology and Immunology of the hospital and Bayero University Kano disclosed this and described the initiation of the uniform for staff as development that will reduce cross transmission of infection from staff to patients.

The Head of Department added that, the uniform is unique personal protective equipment (PPE) to each unit of the department, which includes two pairs of
amber colour, surgical scrubs and laboratory coats branded with staff name and AKTH logo.

Dr. Abdulsalam further said, the uniform will promote equity and quality of work among staff as there is no variation of fabrics nor rank/position. He thanked the Hospital Management for the provision of the uniforms.

Similarly, the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) of the hospital were provided with unique nurses scrubs and tops.
